- danorenExplorerI used Colter Bay Campground ,hookups, location -just great place-Enjoy and do reserve .
- Bob___AnnExplorerX2 for Colter Bay. Not only do they have full hook ups but a nice grocery store and restaurant. We stayed there for two weekslast year
- Jim_ShoeExplorerColter Bay CG and Colter Bay RV park are next to each other. The RV park has hookups. There are several more dry CGs in the park. Once you get parked, there's a couple of drives you should take in your TV only. But you have to promise not to tell anybody. Its a secret. :)
Drive to the top of Signal Mountain. You can see for miles. Last time I was up there, I watched a hot air balloon go by and I was looking down on it. And, as you drive along Jenny Lake Rd, there's a turnout to the Jenny Lake shore. Maybe parking for 3 or 4 cars. Walk over to the shore, sit on a rock and just stare. Your Blood Pressure will drop about 20 points. - jalichtyExplorerCan't go wrong camping in Grand Teton at Colter Bay. Both dry and FHU campgrounds. Dry will cost about $11-$12 with the senior pass while the FHU will be over $50 per night. While there take a cruise on Jackson Lake and see some of the prettiest scenery in the world and you are sitting right in the middle of it. They also offer, I believe, evening dinner cruises with dinner on an island shore looking right at Mt. Moran rising over 5,000 feet straight out of the lake, almost. Take early morning or evening drives to see wildlife, bears, eld, deer, foxes, etc. We usually make it up there at least two and sometime three times a summer just to go up there, fish, sightsee and relax from our busy retired life here three hours from Grand Teton. I have pictures if you want to see some.
- beckidExplorerMy favorite place in the world. Been camping at Colter Bay CG for over 40 years. Lots to do, close to Yellowstone but not as crowded, and more consistent weather. The lake cruises are beautiful and they do breakfast and dinner excursions to Elk Island. We will be there June 2nd. Hope its warm and pleasant by then this year!
- TexasShadowExplorer IIhave to add my negative review of Grand Teton rv park. It's just plain seedy and that's all I can say.

Jim, we know this exact spot. Maybe the most peaceful spot on God's green earth. - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIDefinitely stay IN the park for the greatest scenic experience and ease in doing the attractions and wonderful hikes. Colter Bay campground (next door to the RV park) and Gros Ventre campground are our favorites. Each has 300 sites. Take a gentle float trip ride down the Snake River in the park and you'll most likely see a moose or two in the river, too! Hiking is for all abilities. Enjoy your trip. If you need major groceries or fuel by the time you enter the area, you'll find a couple big groceries at the south end of the town of Jackson, along with fuel. Fuel in the parks is always more expensive.
- DesertHawkExplorerWe stayed at Colter Bay Campground, the one without hook-ups in mid-June 2010, it was a nice place for such a large campground and close to showers. Our daughter & her hubby needed them, not having showers in their A-Liner. I have heard good things about Gros Ventre Campground...get more animals walking by or close by, etc. Nice views.
It seems to be named after me as well, (from French: big belly). Actually, the French used the term Gros Ventre, for a local native population/people which was mistakenly interpreted from their sign language. Instead, the Gros Ventre people call themselves by the autonym A'ani or A'aninin, which means "white clay people," or more loosely "ourselves, our people, us, we," etc. The French is pronounced "Grow Vaunt."
If there again, I believe I'd try Gros Ventre.
The Colter Bay Visitor Center and Indian ArtsMuseum by the Colter Bay Campground is really a neat one.
