Great fly fishing near Denver

We made reservations at Tiger Run RV Resort in Breck. We are going to get a guide out of there. This worked best for all parties involved. Hopefully Tiger Run is nice. They sure charge the part. I have no problem with the cost as long as it provides everything it advertises. I've never stayed somewhere so fancy but my Dad liked it. Fine by me.

Can't go wrong wuth the dream stream. I personally don't fly fish but my buddies do well there.

Field and Stream had this article a few years ago. Glenwood Springs is about three hours from the Denver airport. A variety of guide services available. I know people who live here mainly because of the fishing.

In the Loveland/Fort Collins area, the Big Thompson is probably out of the question for the reasons the other posters have stated.

There is the Cache la Poudre River, known by the locals here as the Poudre (pooder) that has fly fishing spots. There's parts of that river that, I've been told, are trophy areas. Jax Outdoor Gear in north Fort Collins could give you a LOT of information about fishing the Poudre.

There's also a KOA campground with camping cabins right at the mouth of the Poudre Canyon, at the intersection of US287/CO14. Here's a link that might be useful if you choose to consider that area:

They don't look good and the river has been badly damaged. Banks and bed scourged and a lot of trash and debris washed in. May be awhile before things improve.

Thanks for the insight. I'll start with these. I also need to find a campground that has cabins (like a KOA) near where we would be.

Summit County is one of the best alternatives for your Dad. Great fishing on the Blue - above and below the Dillon Reservoir. Also lots of guide outfits in Silverthorne, Frisco, and Breckenridge. If the Blue is not producing guides will get you to either the Upper Platte - in Lake County or the Green/Colorado in Grand County Silverthorne is,IMHO a great base for you.
