Great Salt Lake

Need suggestions for a big rig friendly campground near the Great Salt Lake and Salt Lake City. Also, anything nearby that we should not miss?
  • We stayed in Heber City, UT about 50 miles East. The drive in is beautiful and the RV park was brand new in 2013. Mountain view RV Resort. There are other small towns between worth visiting as well.
  • Another vote for the SLC KOA. Decent sites, with some very nice ones for bigger rigs, and centrally located, with relatively easy access to I-215, I-15 and of course downtown. I believe there is a Trax line right by the CG too (the commuter rail line in the city). Not too many other choices in this area. Provo would probably be fine but in the morning traffic going into SLC can be pretty slow & busy.
  • We stayed at the KOA. Very nice park with lots of room. Free shuttle to the downtown area and Temple Square. Saw the Mormon Tabernacle Choir perform FREE! Make time for the tour of the Mint..(sorry, no free samples, I asked)....Dennis
  • Many folks like the SLC KOA, but I prefer to go all the way through and stay at Lakeside RV in Provo.
  • The main attraction is the LDS Temple in downtown SLC. The Bonneville salt flats are to the west of SLC.
  • Many years ago we stayed in a RV park just outside of Salt Lake City. It was great and family friendly with lots of things for kids to do.
