Gulf shores trip

You can always go to Gulf State Park, a block from the gulf. In october you should not have any problems getting a spot. The park has come a long way since all the hurricanes. November 1st starts their snowbird rate, that is worth checking out if you are planning on staying longer. Semper Fi

there are not any campgrounds directly on the gulf that i am aware of. we have stayed at luxury rv resort which is about 3/4 mile north of the beach. it was really nice but had zero trees. (would not stay here in summer). we stayed the first of august at gulf state park and it was an extreamly nice campground for a state park. you also get free parking at the public beach with your stay. the entrance to the actual campground is about 1/2 mile north of the beach. we had a pull through site on it was very nice.
there are some high dollar campgrounds up on wolf bay but someone said they are class A only.

This is as close to the gulf as you'll get camping, great place!

thanks everyone for the replies. we like to throw our nets and get bait , then surf fish, and ride our bikes. sounds like the state park is the way to go. we talked to a woman at perdido bay, full hookups and cable but almost 100.00/night. kinda steep i think. only planning to stay a few days before going up to ft. payne to visit family we haven't seen for a while. thanks again.

If you are speaking of the Panhandle Gulf beaches.....then for fishing, ou an't beat the St. Joe Peninsula State Park. Otherwise, for access to beach, large sites, and amenities nearby, Henderson Beach State Park is our favorite. Have a great time. Phillip

We have stayed here for a couple weeks for last 2 summers. PaPa Roccos across from site is a good hole in the wall eatery. The Hangout is great entertainment. Putt Putt golf 1 block from sites.

We thought St Andrews at Panama City Beach was awesome.

We LOVE Gulf State Park!!

Big Lagoon just east in FL is nice.
