- georgefarl1945ExplorerWe stay at Gulf Breeze resort on county road #6 off Hwy 59. We have been told the prices at State park keep going up.
George Farley - TripalotExplorerWe stayed there for a week in March one year. Weather was warm that year but no one was swimming in the ocean. We like the c.g. and would love to go back. It is somewhat of a hassle to get a site, but worth all the aggravation.
What do you want to know.
Have you googled Gulf Shores S.P. - there are lots of people on this forum who go there. - Executive45Explorer IIIThey don't allow you to feed or aggravate the alligators...that includes walking your dog at night or allowing them outside. We had two visit while I was barbquing, (sp) and my dog wouldn't back down. After the second night we left.
You do realize you are NOT on the ocean. The park surrounds several small canals that run inland. The ocean is several miles away by car...Dennis - ljrNomadStayed there several times but it's been awhile. I roam around TX, LA, MS, AL & GA quite a bit. Gulf Shores is ok but I can't say it's too high on my list for that area. I wouldn't avoid a stop there but I wouldn't go out of my way either. The hurricane a few years back really hurt.
- K_CharlesExplorerThe dog can swim in the lake by the zip line. On one sign post there are 3 signs.
Swim at your own risk
No life guard on duty and
Don't aggravate the alligators.
I don't think it's a bad place to stop if your just passing thru. We stay a couple days to rest, not much else to do except go catch a roll and we have never done that. - Johno02ExplorerGreat place if you can get in. On state parks reservation, lots of folks reserve every weekend for two days, then cancel at the last minute. So chances of getting anything on a weekend, or including a weekend are slim. I don't think any of the State or Federal parks should take reservations more than two weeks in advance, and have at least half the sites open for walkins. The way they are doing it now, the government is losing an entire week camping fee for two nights that don't pay anything anyway.
- woodworker414ExplorerThank you everyone for your quick replies
Life is a trip ENJOY the ride
Safe Travels - JCGibsonExplorerWe stayed there last summer and enjoyed our stay. We only saw one alligator and it was about 4 feet long if that. When you stay in the State Park, you get free access to the State Park Beach access at the Pavilion which is only about a mile away. The Pier is about 2 miles away from the park. At the State park they also have Zip lines, rent kayaks and canoes. They have a small nature center, huge swimming pool, laundry room and small store.
- pawattExplorerIf you are thinking of snowbirding there it is a bit cold in Jan & Feb.
- TripalotExplorerIf you enjoy bicycling there are lots of great trails in the area. Also lots of restaurants nearby although we don't dine out often. The town has some interesting shops; lots of kid type activities as well - just bring lots of money.
