Hard Labor state park in Ga.

Thanks for the replies. Wxtoad thanks for the info I have saved your page and have enjoyed looking at all the different places. As a matter of fact the wife and I went to Grayton beach state park after checking out the picks on your page. Alot of great info

We were there a few years ago and enjoyed our stay. Here is a report on the park with some pictures.

Before we got into RV'ing I've played quite a few rounds at the golf course and enjoyed the course a lot. So the DW and I went to the CG a few months ago to pick out some sites for our Fall Break outing and were really disappointed in the CG. The sites were quite small on averaage with very outdated electrical boxes. Since GA State Parks does not use a Reservation system (even though they dumped the old state-driven reservation system and signed up with Reserve America) it made us worried that after driving 1 1/2 hours we might find ourselves stuck on a site that just wouldn't work.
The sites are level and very shaded which is good for any time earlier than Oct/Nov. There is an Observatory on the Park grounds that offers free visits on selcted Saturday nights during the Summer that gets rave reviews. The golf course is almost World-class. The CG is only good if you have units under 30' for most sites.

Thanks for the replies. I have already read the reviews, I just wanted to hear from any people on the forum that has been there on their thoughts. Pictures look real nice. We really like the wooded sites for shade and some privacy. Keep the replies coming.

Not sure I'd be interested in staying any place called "Hard Labor". :)

On the Hard Labor Creek website there are photos of a couple of campsites. It is very wooded and sites are level. Beautiful area.

Hard Labor is a very nice Georgia State Park located about 45 minutes from Covington, GA (which is where Vampire Diaries, In The Heat Of The Night, some of the Dukes of Hazard, My Cousin Vinny, and many others were filmed). Tours are available for the Vampire Diaries filming sites (check with Chamber of Commerce for times). The park is located on Hard Labor Creek and has plenty of level camp sites available.
