- RandACampinExplorer IIThat is definitely a young persons tent.
- htownersExplorerI just read this on REI's site.
ā¢Tent can also be pitched on the ground in dry weather
So if they won't allow it, you at least have an alternate method. - RV-1_2n-FUNExplorerSO???? Have you called FW and asked the Manager? My guess would be "not allowed."
- jwolf55ExplorerIndiana state parks do not allow you to attach anything to the trees, even clotheslines. They have a catch all rule that cover it.
"Do not injure or damage any structure, rock, tree, flower, bird or wild animal. Do NOT gather limbs, brush or trees (either dead or alive) for firewood because they rebuild the natural humus."
Most campgrounds have a similar rule. - bsshelbyExplorer

No idea on the tent, just wanted to say you have the neatest flood wall murals and it works great for me while my wife is in the Quilt museum. We do this for a day trip while camped at Hillman Ferry. LBL. I usualy find folks very happy to help on these forums. I once got it for saying Destin instead of destin fl.
Thanks for the compliment on our flood wall. Paducah is a pretty interestly place to visit. We appreciate each and every tourist that come to our area. LOTS of places to eat out, both local and chain restaurants. We are also invite folks to consider moving to our area. A great arts center, a wonderful Carson Arts Center where many nationally known entertainer preform and Paducah is a large medical center. An incredible school system with several distinguished schools and very reasonable taxes.
Thanks!

Interesting... Do you own one of these? If so, how well does it work, can you put a lot of stuff inside, advantages, drawbacks? I viewed the setup vid, and it seems like it'd be nice for boondocking where there's no level ground.
drsteve, I don't own one of these yet. I should have explained from the start. I wasn't planning on staying in the tent at Fort Wilderness. I will be staying in our motorhome and was going to put the tent up behind the motorhome for a photo shoot for an outdoors retail store. I was just wondering if anyone had tried it. But, to answer your questions, the design of the tent, divides it into three separate floor sections so each person is supported separately. The gross weight capacity is 880 pounds. All the reviews I have read have been very positive. Another advantage to me, is you are not on the ground, so less suseptiable to snakes! Plus, it just looks cool! I am considering taking one on and ATV trip to Colorado this summer. I will repost after I purchase it and try it out locally. - wowens79Explorer IIII'd say the likelyhood of getting a site where the trees would work for that would be very iffy. I definately would not plan a trip with that being the only sleeping option.
It looks like a really cool tent and would be great at some campgrounds.
I do know that FL state parks are very picky about hammocks. The trees you connect to have to be certified by the park, and you must have at least 2inch wide straps. - djsamuelNomad

I wouldn't count on being able to use one at Disney, whether they allow it or not. I don't think any of the sites we've ever stayed at in the Fort has trees situated in such a way that such a tent would work. You'd actually have to setup the tent between sites, not on the site's pad where it should be.
You'd have to go through the campground and find a site that would work for you, I doubt Disney Cast members would know if there is one that would work.

+1 on this. I don't know of any campsites at Fort Wilderness that would be configured in a way suitable for this. In addition, you don't get a choice of a particular campsite, although you can request ahead of time. We get our request about 60% of the time (we camp there about 8 times a year due to my wife working at Disney). - 2012ColemanExplorer III'm not angry, but I have to agree - I have not been to a CG where it is permissible to hang stuff from a tree. The policy could have changed from a time where someone may remember it being OK to do so.
So the best thing to do would be to call FW and ask - get names and positions of the person who you speak to. Then you can share the updated info with the forum.
See - not angry at all! :P Neat looking tent BTW... - WavespriteExplorer IIIt doesn't look like it is any different then hanging a hammock. If there were two trees to hang a hammock then why wouldn't it be allowed? People camp in hammocks all the time now. they are super comfy and backpackers use them instead of tents and sleeping bags.
