Help with Oregon Poll!

Having no direct experience with Oregon attractions I sure can use some help sorting out the responses I received to the poll. Surely some of these items can be summarized into the sites for a particular area or zone. In the order of interest and then alphabetically here is what you have given me (I will continue to try to figure these out myself). Please let me know if some of these items can be consolidated.

  • How many days are you talking about - your list covers most of the State. I have lived here 30 years and still haven't seen everything on your list.

Oregon has outstanding coast and some of the best State Parks in the Country. We camp at Beverly Beach near Newport which has several items on your list. Coming from Portland we can stop at the Evergreen Air Museum on the way to the Coast. From Newport we head north to Fort Stevens State Park and hit the casino at Lincoln City - then Canon Beach/Haystack Rock and the Tillamook Cheese Factory on the way North.

Multnomah Falls and the Columbia River Gorge are a must see - easy day trip from Portland or you can see on your way to Central Oregon which has a number of items on your list.

The campgrounds on your list are all nice - but as stated almost all the State Campgrounds are exceptional.

Haven't spent much time in Eastern Oregon - so can't comment on that part of the State.
  • Thanks Ianerd, that's the kind of info I'm needing. paula b, I have the books but the info in them is overwhelming. I'm trying to separate out the gems.
  • Hi Doug,

I don't know when you are planning your trip but Oregon has some really neat free travel guides. Google it and you can order whatever you need!

Oregon State Parks puts out a nice camping/recreation/heritage site book also.

  • You have Multnomah Falls listed twice that is in Columbia River Gorge with additional interests listed that are also in the Gorge (Museum and River Bar). Attractions in Newport (Newport Aquarium, Oregon Coast Aquarium (same aquarium) and city of Newport) listed three times along with Beverly Beach which is just a few miles from Newport. Then you have the air museum in McMinville listed twice (Evergreen and McMinville).

    Hope this helps..

  • Ha, Ha. Would you want to try something similar for Washington State?
