I would go to Camp Dearborn in Milford. It's probably not the closest but it's a very nice place to spend a few days all by itself. We go there for a few days every year, I can go back and forth to work from there while the rest of the family enjoys the park for a few days. Only about an hour drive to Greenfield Village or the Henry Ford Museum. May also want to consider the Ford factory tour while your in the area (you get tickets for this at the museum).
I'd be interested in the factory tour however, driving a Chevy do I have to park way out in the outfield somewhere or do I get prefered parking in order to win over non Ford driving visitors?
Really enjoy the factory tours. - nickthehunterNomad III would go to Camp Dearborn in Milford. It's probably not the closest but it's a very nice place to spend a few days all by itself. - Rangerman40ExplorerDetroit Greenfield was a little "ghetto-ish" for my tastes... but it is closest to the museum. The park is in Ypsilanti.

Dito
The Thomas Edison at Work district in Greenfield Village is amazing. Many, many of Edison's inventions all in one room.
SO much to see. - VeebyesExplorer IIThanks. Between those two ought to do it. Don't need the fluff. Just a safe clean place for a few nights.

- sch911ExplorerMy first choice would be: Wayne County Fairground CG http://www.waynecountyfairgrounds.net/
Second Choice: Detroit Greenfield RV Park http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/michigan/ypsilanti
