Hidden Valley Campground

We will be picking up our first ever TT on the 9th. of May and I could use a little bit of help.

I managed to get reservations at Hidden Valley campground in Ravenna, Ohio for the Memorial day weekend. I have searched every review site that I can think of but I am unable to find any reviews for the CG. Has anyone ever used this cg and if so what are your thoughts?

I had checked with a lot of the campgrounds in the area I wanted to be in but was not able to find any with room for that week end. Once I talked to Barb at Hidden Valley and was told they had room, I jumped on it. I know I waited too long to make reservations, but I was not sure when I would be getting the TT.

Any insight would be appreciated and thanks in advance.
  • Actually, the cg is located off of rt. 14 just east of streetsboro. From what I can see on google maps, it looks to be okay. Seems to be quite a few trees and a couple of lakes(ponds) for fishinig/swimming.

As I said earlier, I will post a review where ever I can when we get back from our first trip.
  • is this the cg by the army arsenal on rt 5? if so I live about 20miles away .my buddy says its a nice kid friendly cg.theres also a state cg down the road ,west branch lake.
  • Sorry if I gave the impression that we were not going to go to the cg. We are actually going to go up to ohio to visit the grandchildren. We can now use the camper as a base and not have to take over the sons house or inconvenience them.

The funny thing is that we lived about 20 miles north of this cg. for 35 years, yet I had never heard of it. I will be adding a review to RVPark Reviews when we get back.

And who knows, this may be one of those hidden gems we all look for.
  • When we got our first Pop-Up, for it's maiden voyage, we stayed at an "armpit" of a campground. It was pathetic. But you know, we were excited, young and had a blast! Never went back to that campground since, even though it's close to home. But the memories of the fun we had, far exceed the inconveniences we encountered.

What was so bad? Well, we were in a pop-up, so we had to shower in the bath house, which had no hot water at all, not to mention all the spiders and spider webs. The campground is located along a flood basin along a creek. The overflowing banks of the creek over years and years left the ground soggy, and very smelly. We had to park on grass, so that was a real treat (I'm being very sarcastic here). They had an advertised swimming pool, but it was closed and had been broken, they said for the last 5 years and look as nasty as an overflowing pit toilet. They had long-term campers there that were extremely territorial, and made us feel extremely uncomfortable even being there. And the roads were mud, and with the recent rains, getting into the campground meant driving in mud up to the axles. Our shoes were muddy, the vehicle was muddy, the camper was muddy, it smelled, it was steamy hot, our pop-up did not have air conditioning, the kids were still little, they smelled like the stinky mud, everything was a mess.

BUT! In spite of it all... we had LOTS of love! And the laughter because of it all, will remain a precious memory forever!

So you know, I'm 100% sure, your maiden voyage will be much more pleasant than ours was.

Go with no expectations, and just go with the flow once you get there. Look for the positives in everything. Nothing says, if it turns out to be a negative experience, that you EVER have to go back again. But if it turns out to be a real joy and wonderful experience, you also gained!

Go with an open mind and just enjoy!
  • Found Google reviews and the campground's FB page. Sounds like a nice family campground according to reviewers.

The way I see it you have your reservation which as noted is hard to get another so go ahead and enjoy yr Memorial Day in a new locale and add your own review:).
