- dodge_guyExplorer IISounds Good!
My kids loved it out front!
We had a beautiful view too!
Glad everything is being taken care of. enjoy the area! - golf_bearsExplorerdodge guy,
It's the Horse Thief Campground, it's the privately owned one on 87.
Got the Insurance Co.s involved and a local mobile tech guy out of Custer City who's going to take care of replacing the unit. So now it's "Miller Time"!!!!!! - dodge_guyExplorer IIIs this the private campground I recommended or the Forest Service campground, either way Great choice. beautiful setting and centrally located. Sorry to hear of the problems you had, but as you say if we love doing what we do then you have to take everything else that goes along with it.
Good luck and Enjoy! - golf_bearsExplorerOK, decided to stay at Horse Thief Campground. Nice little wilderness type campground which we like.
They had a tornado go through the area last week, before we got here, down power lines and lots of trees down. Power was restored and all was going well.
So on our way up to the campground we hit a low hanging wire, ripped off the front AC shroud and a few other part, bent the condenser coil and ruptured the copper line. Will deal with the Insurance Co. today to see how they want to handle it.
The Company responsible for the lines around here gave me a claims phone number to call so will follow up with them today also.
If you love to RV, you just got to roll with the punches. - two-ninerExplorerHeartland America on Hwy 79 is due east from Mount Rushmore. Full hookup and received the Passport America rate for the week we spent there.
After looking at all the others, it was a wise choice. - EgorKCExplorerAnother vote for Rafter J. Beautiful setting, close to Rushmore, Custer State park and Crazy Horse. We stayed in one of their camper cabins when we were "in between" RV's. We have stayed 3 times over the years and cannot get enough of the tall pines there. Very well run park.
Greg the wannabe chef - Bob___AnnExplorerWe really enjoyed Rafter J Bar. Large spaces, a lot of common area, great hook ups, level sites, nice pool and clean. It is close to anywhere you are planning to go. If you have time take a day and drive over to the Bad Lands NP. Pretty neat.
- dodge_guyExplorer IIWe really like Horse Thief Campground located on Needles HWY. just outside Hillcity. Very nice place with beautiful views of the surrounding hills.
Be sure to drive the Iron MTN road. - Luke_PorterExplorerRafter J is the nicest campground in all of the Hills.
- LaurenExplorerOooooooooooohhhhh, now I understand!
Sorry about that!
We lived in WI (Appleton & Madison) for 7 years and then Minneapolis 25 years - were up that way last year and came thru the Black Hills on the way home.
We liked the Badlands as well - stayed at the KOA. We did all the tourist things but did them from outside the entrances ... both Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. I did photo work from afar. We loved the drives and Custer S P. And some hikes and all.
Rafter J was a good spot to base from.
