Tom, if you are flying east, try to get a seat on the north (left) side of the plane -- the "radiant" of the meteor shower is almost at the North Star. (I have never seen a meteor from a plane, but I did see the Northern Lights once.) Also, if you will be in the mid-Atlantic, note that the predicted time of the peak of the shower is around 7 am British time (in other words, Universal or Greenwich time). So the shower might be washed out by the rising sun, depending on how far east you are.
