WBwood...I have seen the champions advertised but did not really look at them thinking they would be a lot louder. I think I would rather have I genny to deal with. I am the kind of person that would prob take both even if not expecting a/c usage, just in case. So I may as well have only one. The other thing is I would have two to maintain and two for something to go wrong with. So I was really looking hard at the 2400 Yamaha. Now you have me thinking. I just found a " new " Champion 3100w / 2800 rated @ CW for 899.99. It is an inverter genny with 58db noise and 84lbs. Would eliminate the question of starting a 13,500 ac I would think. The Yamaha is rated at 48-53db noise and 75lbs. And sell for 450.00 more. No more than I would use it maybe a Champion would work for me.......maybe I need to start a new thread on Champions, their noise , and reliability? Thanks
$450 more, get the yamaha

I would disagree Bumpy.
$450 more for 700 watts less power when the OP wants to run their AC isn't a very good call. I know the 2400 will run some AC units but there are plenty it wont especially in really hot conditions or high altitudes.
One thing I find deceptive about DB ratings is what the generators sound like under full load. The Honda Handi and Champion 3100i both start out at 58 DB under low load but rev up to 65 db under heavy loads. That's not that far from the 68 db my Champion open frame runs at all of the time. I couldn't see using any of them to run the AC in the small CG I was in last. Not only would everyone in that campground know that I was doing it, so would have the people in the CG across the lake.
