Ok got a question(s). I am OP and am considering :
1-- yamaha 2400, which will possibly start my a/c
2-champion 3100i , which should a/c with no problem, but is louder
3- 2/ champion 2000 stacked and pared together, which should run a/c ok together
Would not replace #2 or #3 with a Honda setup due to cost. My concerns are:
1- Weight on number 1&2
2-noise...I am really paranoid about disturbing others with a loud genny
Questions:
1- Several people suggested getting two Honda 2000 and pair them. I eliminated Hondas due to cost, but may consider that idea with Champion 2000 pared together in a stack that they have. The question is...would not two 2000 gennys running at same time make more noise than say a 2400 yamaha or a 3100champion?
2- If the power cable to my 18' will reach can you just leave the genny in the back of the PU and run it from there or is that not a good idea? if not My GF and I are in good shape and can handle either the 3100 or 2400.
3- How do you keep people from stealing these things? I can run a cable and lock as someone described earlier to make it relatively safe while in the pu. But at a campsite what do you do? Cable it to the trailer axle or something? There is no place to store it on the TT, although I have thought about mounting it / them on the tongue. But then I understand there is a vibration issue.
As you can likely tell I have never camped with a genny. I do have an old 2000w homelite for emergency hurricane use, but would never subject anyone else to having to listen to it. Hope some of this makes sense. And yes I did read quite a few of the older posts on gennys. Would be very interested if someone actually has a Champion3100 and they can relate their history with it as far as noise etc.
Thanks
