How is Mission, TX these days?
I have previously made the comment that I do not want to return to the RGV, but now I am having second thoughts. We were there in 2008 and 2009 and the area was just plain dirty in my opinion. Hwy 83 ...

Why or why on this forum does everyone equate Mission as the RGV. :S
Mission is only one small community in the RGV. The further east in the RGV you go, the less Barrio it will feel. Some enjoy that feeling while others do not. Mission is on the far west side of the RGV.
Based on your statements, I suggest you find a place in Harlingen and to the east of there. Even then, you still may not feel very comfortable, so book short term.
