How is Mission, TX these days?
I have previously made the comment that I do not want to return to the RGV, but now I am having second thoughts. We were there in 2008 and 2009 and the area was just plain dirty in my opinion. Hwy 83 ...

I currently stay in a park on the Donna/Weslaco border and have for 8 years. Prior to that I stayed about 30 miles away in a different RGV location. I really did not care for my first location so the next time I came I MOVED.... the experience was very different in my new location. I have noticed the following changes since the 2009-9 season in my current area of the valley.
All the work on Expressway 83 is now complete. It has now been designated as Interstate 2.
There is less sugar cane burning.
Since the highway is now done there is less dust in the air and the area has a cleaner more finished feel to it.
Many new stores have opened up on the Expressway service roads.
The Winter Texan populatuion has been reduced in numbers.
Although there is some graffiti in the area it is not something that you see on a regular basis......... the same goes for trash on the streets.
