With two people, a generator, and a 30' TT (it would help if you told us this) water will be your limiting factor... probably 5-7 days if you conserve. Coming from Cody there are half a dozen USFS CGs before the East entrance and by arriving before noon you should be able to find a site without reservations after the 4th. I would then reduce my time at Fishing Bridge to 1-2 days. Next I would try and get into Madison (without reservations) and if not then north of West Yellowstone is Baker's Hole USFS CG and here again... before noon and no reservations should not be a problem. IF you cannot get in then go across the road and tie down at the local airport for one night so you can get in the next morning. It has a dump station and water fill.
I like this site for finding public CGs. We do three months out West without reservations staying mostly in USFS CGs. The trick is to not expect to find a site on Friday, but on Monday there are plenty of sites. Once you get used to winging it you will stop making reservations except for major holidays.
