Showers are often available at boat ramps, health clubs, marinas, and, as mentioned above, some non-hookup campgrounds.
Drinking water in jugs, or (cheaper) from bring-your-own-jug machines is at most grocery stores.
I carry separate jugs (marked on the lid) for campground, creek, or city water from sources I am unsure of. I use this for cooking or washing (not my face, and not eating dishes). Anything that will be thoroughly heated and/or away from my mouth. Many people do this with their fresh water tank -- they drink bottled water instead.
