When booddocking in our RV, we prefer BBQ'ing outside with our small Weber propane grill. It's kindof a miniature version of the Weber BBQ on our deck at home - and just as convenient.
We boondock a lot in the desert and of course can't locate wood out there. Carrying enough wood along, just in case, for cooking takes up too much room in a storage cabinet. Also with the Western U.S. drought conditions - outside open fires are not always allowed anymore. We carry several of the small propane cylinders along for the little Weber, and they're available in a whole lot of places.
