GC is on my list of places to visit, and given all the other things to see in that area, I don't think a month would be too long, if you find a cg that is central to several "attractions"... find something on US 15 North of Vegas and you can venture out from there to visit the Canyon, Bryce, Zion, Grand Staircase, etc.
Yellowstone, I only visited by car, driving all the way from Jackson WY. It's a huge park, with lots and lots of roads and traffic... very slow traffic. It's another one of those areas you could visit several attractions. Yellowstone itself, Tetons, even an excursion to Custer SP / Black Hills or Glacier NP. All this is pretty spread out, not sure a "central" cg would work, due to lack of roads.
