Thanks - this has been really helpful will check out the Ultimate US Public Campground Project also. I know some fairgrounds have public campgrounds - well, I did after the city campground we stopped at was all booked and a local suggested the fairgrounds. It wasn't the Ritz, but ok and had electric & bathroom/shower facility.
