We (at home) started seeing heavy rain 45 minutes ago (4 pm) on the Crystal Coast - on the mainland just across the bridge from Emerald Isle, halfway down the NC coastline. Curfews established at 10 p.m., no one goes onto the island overnight. No mandatory evac for those there already.
Forecast to be a category 20 with winds up to 100 when eye passes by east of us during the early morning. Possible tornado activity around the region.
The storm is 25 miles or so offshore - Outer Banks around Hatteras are much more vulnerable.
