- mjmaddoxExplorerTo the OP, great choice.. Not sure of your dates but if you stop at the KOA in clanton this summer do yourself a favor and stop at exit 205 as well for the best local produce..you can't beat our local peaches.right off the exit Peach park to the left and Durbins market to the right. You won't be sorry.
- caysea7254ExplorerThank you everyone for the recommendations. I think we will stay at the koa, sounds great for an over night stop. :)
- edatlantaExplorer IIThe Camping World mentioned above is off of I65 exit 234. Turn left at the stop sign at the end of the ramp, go about 1/4 miles to a stop light and turn left on to George Roy Parkway. There is a Shell station at this light. The Camping World is 1/2 mile down this road and their free sites are immediately on the south side of their facility. These sites are first come first serve and have full hookups.
The RV park off of exit 208 is a nice one and close to numerous facilities. There is an excellent country cooking restaurant just east of Love's about a half mile. - docjExplorer

Oak Mtn. Is OK but it's about 7 slow miles off I-65. Thought you were looking for easy in and out.
It's a 15-20 minute drive on a road inside the park from the front gate to the CG. IMHO hardly enough to be considered a big deal, especially if it means being able to stay at a park that nice. - mjmaddoxExplorerAnother vote for an easy overnight is the Dandy KOA exit 208 Clanton already mentioned. Half way between bham and montgomery. Close to love's truck stop and a couple of restaurants. Very safe area but is next to the interstate if noise Is an issue for you..
If you stay here be aware the off ramp is very sharp so adhere to the reduced speed limit. - golfknutExplorerDid you want a pull-thru site?

- docjExplorerOak Mountain State Park is beautiful and is just south of Birmingham. I don't know how easy it is to get a site this time of year, but we'd go there again in a heartbeat.
- LamanExplorerMy BIL told me that the Camping World just south of Birminghan on I-65 has a small campground with free overnight stays, might want to check that out.
