Sometimes 'culling the herd' is necessary.......just drive thru a parking lot and watch how many DON'T pay attention
Very true. In college in the 70's I had summer jobs in campgrounds and parks. Was a park ranger on the Avenue of the Flags at Rushmore in '77. Answered hundreds and hundreds of questions during each 8 hour shift. One that still sticks out: "Ranger, where do they store the faces during the winter?" My straight-faced answer: " In the basement of the Visitor Center." His gullible reaction: " Did you hear that, Mabel? The Ranger said......." and they both walked on, satisfied.
We were in Yellowstone last September. I still shake my head when I witness tourists in action. Many/most of their smarts are on vacation as well. - ken56ExplorerBottom line is everyone, drivers and pedestrians, have to be aware of the dangers around them. People get oblivious when they are in a place like that and drivers have to slow down and expect people to do stupid things. But that's never the case is it.

You can't fix stupid! :-)
And that's the thing. they are everywhere, but Yellowstone gets way more visitors and is always more popular so its reported on so we always see the issues pop up there! - LaurenExplorerOK - I lived in Estes Park, CO for 8 years and Rocky Mtn got its thousands of idiots each year as well.

Texas woman dies in Yellowstone!
Keep in mind the picture in the article does not match the report. But, yes she got hit by a car. She supposedly tried to get a better picture of an Eagle and didn`t look around as she crossed the road. Very sad. I hope these things come to an end!

Just how often does a person get hit and killed by a vehicle while crossing the road in Yellowstone N.P. that you hope it isn't going to be a weekly thing? :?
Umm! Weekly reports on Yellowstone incidents! There have been 3 so far this year since opening.
First was the woman trying to pet a buffalo, then there was the calf in the SUV that had to be euthanized and now the woman trying to get a picture of an eagle gets hit by a car! All in 2016!!! - colliehaulerExplorer IIIThis person made a mistake and paid the ultimate price for doing so.
- TyroneandGladysExplorerSad but at least this persons actions did not cause the death of a innocent animal.
- chiefneonExplorerHowdy!
Most Injuries that occur to folks visiting the park Inwas told by a ranger was from vehicle accidents. It's was surprised when we first visited the park and a ranger ststed that it was one of they few parks that have their on hospital. I believed that has now been replaced with clinics throughout the park.

Chiefneon - DwayneNExplorerThe last time we were in Yellowstone we drove for about an hour and decided to get out of there and find some peace and quiet. Idiots pulled over where they weren't supposed be, people driving too fast and people walking everywhere on roads. I figured after hitting the brakes a few times we were just going to get plowed into by someone driving behind us. National Parks are nice if you go there during an off season!
