We stayed at Goliad in February and enjoyed it very much. We have a dog and found good walking within the park, but did not think of walking into town. There is a good trail between the state park and the Presidio Bahia where Fannin and his men were held until the massacre.
Goliad State ParkWe have stayed several times (beginning in 1962) at Fontainbleau, and in more recent days at Fairview/Riverside near Madisonville.
Tyler state park has great trails for the dog, but clearly not near enough to walk into town.
