Interesting Places to see and do

My other post title was probably a mistake when I asked for your favorite places. Now I hope you will reply with some of your "Interesting places" to see and do. After about 15+ years of traveling 49 states I have hundreds of them and I'm sure a lot of you have found hidden jewels that you might want to share. Thanks in advance for your replies.
  • The tide coming in at Cobscook State Park (ME)
The sunset at Colter Bay (WY)
The sunrise at Bluewater Key (FL)
The waterfall at; Small's Fall (ME), Yosemite (CA), and Yellowstone (MT).
  • I'd have to say my trip to Alaska. Friends have a summer home in Cooper Landing on the Kenai Peninsula. I did day trips to both Homer on the western side and Seward on the eastern side. Across Cook Inlet you can see active volcanos. Just steam when I was there, but they erupt sometimes. In Seward they have an Alaskan Sea Life Aquarium. Only the sea life that's native to Alaska. Also a lot sport fishing charters from Seward. I had no idea how big a Halibut is or how good it tastes when its only been out of the water a couple of hours. And on my way north from the peninsula to Fairbanks, I drove past and got pictures of Denali (Mt. McKinley) when the top wasn't covered in clouds, a rare sight.
  • If you have kids or like to climb on stuff, the St. Louis City Museum. Don't be mislead by the word "museum"; perhaps "jungle gym and art installation" would be a bit more accurate. People seem to either love it or hate it.

A few around Vermont, where I live...
The large and fairly well-known Shelburne Museum (with a large and eclectic collection, tending towards folk art).

The somewhat less well-known Fairbanks Museum in St Johnsbury (natural history mostly, but also a sort of time capsule or museum museum—you get the feeling it hasn't really changed a whole lot in the past century. They have a cute little planetarium there, too.) Nearby in St. Johnsbury is the public library or Athenaeum with a fine little art gallery.

The American Precision Museum in Windsor has a fine collection of historic machine tools. It's been a looong time since I was there; I need to get back sometime.

Circus Smirkus is a vermont-based youth circus that tours around New England each summer with a proper one-ring bit top tent. It's generally well worth seeing.
  • Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum in Paradise MI. Edmund Fitzgerald exhibit and lighthouse.
    Balmorrhea State Park TX.
Iron Ore Pocket Docks Marquette MI (see video on Youtube)
    Haines Alaska Eagle Preserve
Isaak Walton Inn, Essex MT between East and West Glacier.
    Crater Lake, Oregon
    Lost Sea Caverns Sweetwater TN
    Fantastic Caverns, Springfield MO
  • A place of historical interest is Andersonville, GA. A POW camp dating back to the civil war and the World Wars.
  • B's Bunch. We full timed for a while but have for years traveled 6 to 9 months out of the year. As a result we've been to so many places and this post is to share places of interest to all that read the posts. Always looking for somewhere new and our travels are always "Where the road goes so do we go". Never a planned route, never make reservations - we just go. Our kids make us come home for Christmas.
  • So where do you intend to visit?? Lots of info from folks here if they have a clue where you intend to visit. Enjoy your choices and decisions Larry
  • Aha...a place we haven't been and will add it to our list for this summer. Thanks! We love breweries. The Miller/Coors in Milwaukee is a good one and the Budweiser brewery at Fort Collins, Colorado is the home of the Clydesdale.
