- darsbenExplorer IINot a camp ground but if you are just stopping to sleep and can survive without hook ups there is nice Flying J at Exit 353 just inside Virginia
- BumpyroadExplorera couple in the area of natural bridge. further on several in the wytheville area.
bumpy - wanderingdawgsExplorerWe recently spent 2 nights at the Natural Bridge KOA. The new owners have put a lot of work into the campground. We had a standard pull through and we had plenty of room for our 35 foot 5'er with slides. There are also premium sites with nice decks. The entire campground is surrounded by woods and there is no highway noise. Easy on, easy off I-81 and close to Natural Bridge if you want to do a little sight seeing while you are there.
About a 100 miles south of Natural Bridge on I-81 is Claytor Lake State Park. We often stay there when we are in the area. The RV sites in are large with water and electric. There are several pull through sites. The park is only about 5 miles off of I-81 so if you like state parks I would recommend Claytor Lake.
You can link to my blog in my signature for posts about both of these areas. - LI_Happy_CamperExplorerI took a look at Natural Bridge KOA. It is an option but would it be hard to menuver around with a 43 foot toy hauler? I was reading on Trip Advisor people had trouble menuvering to get out of their spot the next morning when leaving.
- sdianel_-acct_cExplorerShenandoah Valley Campground at Mount Jackson Virginia. Exit 269. From I-81S take Exit 269 (Shenandoah Caverns). Right at stop sign. Right onto Caverns Road. Right onto Industrial Park Road. Fairly new park with no trees, long level pull thrus. A bit pricey. If you can make it to Wytheville VA area, we like Fort Chiswell RV Park, Max Meadows. http://www.campingfriend.com/fortchiswellrvcampground/
- LI_Happy_CamperExplorersdianel. Both campgrounds look great. Shenandoah is exactly halfway from my start. Fort Chiswell is 10 hours from start and would only have to do 3 hours the next day. I was hoping to do 8 hours the first day and 5 hours the second day. So hopefully I can get a recommendation between Shenendoah and Ft Chiswell. If not I will go with one of those. thanks.

in case you happen to have a KOA membership pass, when I stopped at Ft. chiswell, they honored the $ off.
bumpy - dieharderExplorerIt's not in VA, but in WV, right off the 81 in Falling Waters is Falling Waters Campsite. Great for a stop for a night. Not expensive.

Our rig is 46 feet when hitched to the truck and we didn't have any problems (we were in site 80). I would call the campground and tell them your concerns. The sites aren't all the same and some may be easier than others to get out of. - shenandoahvalleExplorerI pull a 36 foot TT and am 57 feet long when hooked up...I have stayed at Natural Bridge KOA several times. Let them know when you make the reservation and they can fit you in. Get off I81 at exit 180 and the CG is right there.
