Past couple of years a lot of Canadians that were snow birding south, have decided to head to Vancouver Island, Mainland BC warmish areas due to the exchange rate between US$ and Can$'s. Also with the energy crash, since Fall 2014, those provinces have suffered immensely so folks have had to cut their cloth to suit their pocket so to speak.
In addition a lot of the baby boomers are of an age now with ailments affecting them, and noticed several have come off the road the past couple of years or so, albeit gas prices have been most favourable. There's always trade offs but different things affect different folks in their decisions. To me if one cancels out the other might as well continue with what one enjoys.
Just saying an observation and considerations that might affect folks decisions.
