Camping provided by State Parks is not the primary purpose of the park, at least, it wasn't the reason the park was originally created. The purpose of a State Park is to protect a unique and beautiful natural setting for the enjoyment of the public, as well as to protect it from urban or industrial development. Keeping trees trimmed in the camp sites would be urban development. Nature has it's own methods of landscaping, and it doesn't involve cutting anything. Keeping trees trimmed from roadways is understandable, as that is a safety hazard. Selected a site that's too small for a rig is not a safety hazard, it's just selfishness and stupidity. True ME FIRST thinking.
There's plenty of privately owned RV "Resort" parking lots out there for the folks that don't want to be inconvenienced by nature getting in the way of slides, etc. I STRONGLY disagree that it is a parks responsibility State owned or otherwise, to make sure that every rv type can comfortably park in every site.
The person who vandalized the trees in a State Park is no different from the selfish people who vandalize landmarks big or small in National Parks or other preserved areas. Recently in the news, some selfish arse in an SUV caused permanent damage to the "race track" salt flats out west, by irresponsibly driving in an area they shouldn't have. They have ruined that landscape for our children and grandchildren, and possibly more.
There's so much private property for "supporters" to vandalize, leave the public parks alone.
