Jekyll Island Ga

Hi everyone,
Has anyone stayed at the campground on Jekyll Island? We are thinking about staying there for about 3 days. Is there lots of trees? Can we get satellite reception?
Really just want easy beach access.
Thanks,
Kim & Ed
  • If you like bright and open...that isn't the place for you...it is heavily treed with live oaks and everything that brings.

Ditto and if your a GS member, it's only about $38/night....level concrete pads...pool...cable tv...etc..

  • Most likely you won't get satellite reception if you are in the interior of the campground. The campground is heavily covered with trees. On the outside, street side, if you have long enough coax, you can place the satellite outside the trees.

Have you looked at staying off the island and driving there for the day? Coastal GA RV Resort is about 20 minutes away from Jekyll Island, about a mile off I-95. The park is only a few years old and the trees haven't grown tall enough to be a problem yet. Reception will not be a problem. The bugs on Jekyll are really bad this time of year, especially at the campground. They won't be nearly as bad off the island.

  • Just drove through Jekyll Island a week ago and drove past the campground. The park is entirely covered with trees. From what we could see without going into the campground, that it was mostly dirt. It was dusk and we could see numerous campfires going. Not a terrible place. But be sure to take the bug spray with you. I think you might have a hard time with satellite, but I could be wrong. Be sure to take your bikes.
  • Jekyll Island State Park has lots of trees. Satellite reception is "spotty" but I believe they have cable. The campground is not on the beach, but there are beach areas nearby.
