We were there about a month ago and boondocked on BLM land just outside the south entrance. Probably our favorite campsite out of about 15 places we stayed at on our winter trip. We drove through a couple of the campgrounds in the park, which was packed, and we were glad about our choice. Our rig is about the same size as yours.
JK - wecamp04ExplorerI agree with JK,several good videos on YT of people boondocking just outside the park on blm land.
- LwiddisExplorer IIIt’s April. Temperatures going up each day.
- azrvingExplorerPacked when we were there. We boondocked at the dry lake bed north and just east of Joshua tree. Just a little north of there is a nice RV at the North end of the dry lake.
- caysea7254ExplorerThanks everyone! We were looking at Jumbo Rocks but they take reservations and there wasn't any left for our size unit. So blm south it will be! We r around Winslow Arizona now heading out that way to joshua tree. Going down thru sedona, any sites on way not to miss? Thanks again, Tara
- caysea7254ExplorerThanks oatman we must have been responding at the same time!! We will be coming in from the south but will definitely ck out that place to camp also. Thanks Tara
- JKJavelinExplorer IIIReally the only negative about the BLM land: We came up from I-10 and went to the left side of the park entrance road. That section was busier and we didn't go too far down. So we went to the right (east) section. Way less people, but less spots to camp. We went maybe 3 or 4 miles east, and had a hard time finding an easy place to turn around.
- ppineExplorer III agree with the boondocking idea just outside the Park. It is a whole different experience being in the desert with no one around.
