Funny thing too. My DW has done a lot of research on FW (where we ourselves will be heading to shortly) and FW (despite it's cost to stay there) she says always ranks as one of the top campgrounds in the country.
Dutchman is spot on. You have a truck that cost (nowadays) say $60,000 (diesel, cc, 4x4), 5th wheel at another $60,000 so there's $120,000 of disposable income that you very well could have not spent. Shoot, I've got a 4 place V-nose snowmobile trailer, 3 sleds and I'm the only one who rides most of the time. An ave sledding trip for just 1 sled runs about $100.00+ and that's for truck, sled gas a couple times and meal or 2 and couple sodas. Justifiable? Depends on how you look at it. If for whatever reason I'm short on cash, I don't go. HOWEVER, when I do go, I make sure I have one hellova good time and come back with a smile on my face. Worth it? Yes.
RVing the same way as sledding. Expensive sport/hobby. But if it brings you enjoyment, then it's worth it. If your gonna be a worry wort about it, don't get into it. Stay home and buy a pool and pray for sunny weather while we RVers will still be camping rain or not.
