First and foremost you will need a toad/rental to explore the majority of the towns in that area. There's little to no RV parking in most of them. We do day trips to that area fairly frequently. Kennebunkport has some great restaurants and lots of shopping. Portland is about an hour away-sailing, whale watching, shopping and dining are great. South of there (not even an hour) lies Ogunquit with one of the best beaches in the state, York and Old Orchard beaches and tourist attractions, and Kittery Trading Post in Kittery. Bath, ME has a maritime museum, Portsmouth, NH has historical attraction such as Strawberry Banke as well as some water activities. Bessie's Diner in Ogunquit and Bob's Clam Shack in Kittery are two of my favorites. For high-end dining try Street and Company in Portland but make a reservation if you want a guaranteed seat.
