You probably don't want to go during Fantasy Fest or Conch Republic Independence Days, but other than that; relax and enjoy.

Or fly to Ft Meyers and take a ferry to KW. take a look at "Hibiscus studio" or something like that. Stayed there, was reasonable, full kitchen, grill and walking distance to downtown etc. Yes, sunset at the pier, snorkeling , fishing..... people watching... all great!.

Our first time to Key West(2016) we stayed at the Hayat thru Booking dot com and got a pretty good rate for February with breakfast included. We had a great time. We're going back in 2018 and staying at Geiger Key RV for 2 months. Can't wait.

Actually it does get old. I live in Big Pine, hardly ever go north of Marathon. I dread the drive up to Miami. The problem is everyone flying into Miami or Ft Lauderdale and driving down here like they are on vacation, clogging the roads.



And speaking of coming down during summer? It starts getting bad in May. Just going outside and the sweat pours off. I go north for 4 months.

Well that's a regional difference in heat perception. For us it's isn't near as hot as our home in North Florida, plus there is almost always a nice cool sea breeze.

I'm not certain but I think that the CG don't switch to the summer price schedule until April.

Heck no it's the worst time to visit the best would be in the summer. The big must do is watch the sunset from the pier. A crowd of hundreds gather to watch the sun set into the Ocean and their are entertainers and vendors there too. The only other attraction (that I know of) is Hemingway's old house and his 6 toed cats. Otherwise the main entertainment seem to be getting inebriated.

There is a pillar which proclaims itself as the southernmost point in the US that people like to get a photo of them and the pillar.

Wow not really good advise.Dont go in the summer its way to hot,go March-May less crowded.As for things to do sunset cruise,jet skis nrentals,biking around town,beach at the fort has excellent snorkeling,duval crawl,hemingways house,Truman compound,fishing,on and on

the chickens are in just about all the shopping plazas all the way down the Keys.
Here in Key Largo we have big daddy rooster and his girls at the Publix shopping center

A few years back, someone grabbed a hen from the Winn Dixie plaza on big Pine Key and brought it back to the Bahia Honda state park campground.
It made it's round to all the RV's every day for a hand out and some joker named it "Mother clucker", which stuck.

The drive from Miami to Key West is something everyone needs to do at least once. It is absolutely gorgeous. That said, be ready for some tough traffic, so don't do it if pressed for time.

Having made that drive several times, we now fly into KW whenever heading down there. Booked right now for the last week of March! Do expect some sticker shock when you go to book a hotel!
