KOA membership

That would depend on which campgrounds you stay at and what they cost. I did find it paid off in just one visit because we rented a cabin that was considerably more expensive than a site.

Besides the 10% discount, you also accumulate points with each stay that can be used for free stays, etc. The discount combined with the points makes the pay back faster than it would be with just the discount. Our points alone more than pay for our membership renewals each year.

Well it took us 3 years to build up enough points for a "Free Night" if that gives you an idea. This coming Sept. We will be staying for a week in a KOA. So our points will start to build again lol. But we are members of 1000 Trails, and spend a good amount of time in those CG's. Good Luck and Happy Camping !!!

The membership itself is $30/yr. Assuming an average nightly rate of $40 and a savings of 10 per cent per night it would pay for itself after 7 nights, sooner if you stay at higher rate KOAs. Points would be an extra benefit if you stay at KOAs a lot.

If you plan to stay at KOA (or already do) several times a year I am sure membership is worth it.
We had a membership one year and it worked out. Did not renew as we like KOA but actually staying there is rather random and infrequent for us.

I full time and exclusively stay at KOA's whenever possible. First week on the road paid for the membership.

It is the ONLY CG membership I will pay for.

I hate KOA's. I avoid them like the plague. I prefer to boondock at city parks, county parks, and in a pinch a state or national park. Walmart has served me well, too. I try to avoid paying to park somewhere overnight, so KOA just does not suit me. They are the most expensive out there.

Guess I won't run into DownTheAvenue. In that he lists his name on this profile as "Out Law" maybe it is just as well. :-)

To each his own and his last statement simply is not true.

Do I seek them out? No. I go to RVParkReviews and check out an area we will be going to. And make a decision from there with input from here. But we do have a membership and our savings more than pays for it. And they have certain standards they must meet.

We leave 7/19 for 68 nights out - 17 will be in KOA's - some we have been to and some not.

The key is will you use them often enough.

The math says seven or eight nights pays for the 'membership'.

Practically any campground club or membership program pays for the upfront costs if you use it.

10 days is my standard.
