I think if you feel you are being gouged or taken advantage of price-wise, whether you are forced to stay for any reason, the late time, need rest whatever, you still have a valid complaint.
Price gouging, overcharging is a long tradition in the "hospitality" industry. It's in fact one of the few non commodities that practice this variable pricing based on momentary changes in the market. The other is of course is Airlines.
The call for a boycott is over the top, unrealistic and really rather naive. But I do understand and think the OP has a right to be angry and disturbed at feeling taken advantage of.
Nobody likes to be overcharged and there are many instances where you cant just walk away due to whatever reason. But the staying and paying in and of itself does not mitigate the fact that you feel very badly treated.
