lake camping

A few years ago we stayed at a place called North Side Marina on Lake Bridgeport Texas. It is an actual marina and has camping cabins and a small RV campground. We had a wonderful time. I am asking my camping friends if they know of any other places in Texas like this. We are looking for different lake camping experiences. Thanks in advance.
  • We like Lake Ray Roberts State Park Isle of duBois campground. Pilot Point TX North side of Dallas about 50 miles from big D. Nice woods, nice beach. Water, elec, 30&50 amp. Many trails and a very nice paved nature trail for biking with grandkids.
  • You would likely enjoy Lake Murray, located just across the Texas, Oklahoma border near Ardmore Oklahoma. The AREA has a campground/RV park, golf course, air landing strip, miniature golf, tennis courts, swimming pool and swimming beach, restaurant, cabins and hotel along with near-by marina
  • COE parks on Lake Bardwell (Waxahachie creek) and lake Navarro Mills (Liberty)are pretty nice if you want a campsite on the water. Cedar Hill SP and lake Whitney SP are also nice.
  • We have stayed at Lake Wright Patman SE of Texarkana Texas at a COE park that was great. Just returned from our first time at LCRA park near LaGrange TX called Oak Thicket Park. We will be going back. Also a GBRA park at Coleto Creek Reservoir east of Victoria TX that is nice. Check 'em out on-line.

  • WE are host at Falcon State Park during the season. Located between Rio Grand City and Laredo. The marina is not,but a boat launch area with a dock. But we have a Great Rec center, hike and bike trails full and primative hook ups. There are alll kinds of things going on, music nite, pot luck nite, speakers from differnet areas, bird watching. Javelina, deer, road runners and a lot of neat people that have been coming down for many years.
Oh also always looking for more volunteers for the winter season too. Just apply at the state web site.
    Cheers chuck
Oh forgot this is one of the primo fishing places on the south of Texas
