Have you guys ridden the bike paths? It seems there are a bunch of bike trails in the park and they all appear to be paved. It also seems there is a larger trail directly outside the park. Is this paved and where does it go? Is it an easy ride?
Lake George RV Park is the absolute best CG in the Lake George area. We have been going there since 1981.
The trails in the LGRV Park are all paved. The larger trail outside is paved as well. The outside trail goes from Glens Falls all the way to Lake George Village. Easy ride from the CG to LG Village as it is downhill. Coming back up to the CG is a different story, mostly uphill.
Everything I've read about it has been positive so I'm hoping it lives up to expectations. Is it a tough ascent going back to the CG? Also, how is it towing up there? We have yet to travel off the Island with the camper and have never been to Lake George.
I've taken our trailer off Long Island seven times this year alone. Traffic can be a challenge at times. I live on the South Shore in Nassau County and I've found that leaving at about 5am, you avoid the crazy traffic jams.
Lake George is a relatively easy trip once you get past the NYC limits. Just stay away from the Cross Bronx Expy and the George Washington Bridge. You will ALWAYS get stuck in traffic and the road is so bad you will tear your TV and trailer apart.
Your best bet is to take the LIE to Clearview Expy, over the Throgs Neck bridge and up the New England Thruway (95) to 287 west, over the Tappan Zee and then the NYS Thruway to the Adirondack Northway (87) to exit 20. LG RV Park is about 2 miles from exit 20. If you have EZ-Pass use it to save lots of time going through the toll booths.
I've been making the trip at least once a year or more since 1981 with 5 different trailers and many different tow vehicles. It is really an easy trip.
