Lake Havasu City area

Hello everyone: New to boondocking forum, so forgive me if this question is asked a lot!

We will be in Lake Havasu City area Nov/Dec and would like to know of any public lands available for dry camping?

Thanks, Vikki
  • Vikki -- thank you for asking!!!!
mockturtle.....THANK YOU for the website!!!!! It's just what we needed!
  • Craggy Wash just north of the airport and Standard Wash south of Lake Havasu about 5 miles. I prefer Craggy Wash myself. Some great places about a mile from the highway. The trail is good, just take it slow.
  • A wash is a dangerous place to camp, though, during the monsoon season.

I guess if you take this literally you would be correct but in any case you don't park or drive right in the bottom of the wash. In most cases like "Craggy Wash" it is the name of the valley not just the bottom of the DRY river bed and besides the winter season is NOT a monsoon season.

You're right. Now is monsoon season. :)

    Literally. :B

    LAKE HAVASU AND FORT MOHAVE-
    1015 AM MST SUN SEP 1 2013

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

    * A PORTION OF NORTHWEST ARIZONA...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING
    AREA...LAKE HAVASU AND FORT MOHAVE.

    * THROUGH THIS EVENING

    * SIGNIFICANT MOISTURE WILL RESULT IN SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
BEING AROUND THROUGH THIS EVENING. ANY STRONGER OR SLOWER
MOVING THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO
UNLEASH HEAVY AMOUNTS OF RAIN IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME WITH
TOTALS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES OR HIGHER POSSIBLE.

    * LOW LYING AREAS AND LOW WATER CROSSINGS COULD SEE RAPIDLY
FLOWING WATER AS WELL AS ROCKS...MUD AND DEBRIS. ROADS COULD
    BECOME IMPASSABLE.

    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION
AND PERSONS IN AND NEAR THE WATCH AREA SHOULD BE ALERT TO THE
    POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAINFALL.
  • OP: You asked this same question in the Class A forum. Check it out...that's where I posted a suggestion.
