Lake Havasu City

We are thinking about going to LHC for the fireworks and was wondering if it was still possible to boondock across the highway from Sara park. Have not been there for a number of years and was wondering if anything has changed. If that is not possible, any suggestions? We have stayed by the airport but that is a lot of driving and we have heard that it is not as nice as it once was.

  • Badhabit,
Looking at the maps provided by egarant, I believe the area parking for fireworks is within the city limits and not the BLM. I do know that they allow parking there a few days before and after the fireworks. I am not sure if you need a permit or not.

  • Looks like AZ State Trust Lands around there, so I guess officially you'd need a State Trust Land Permit (only $20 for the year). We buy one every year.

You can see land partition here:

  • Yes it is still open for camping during the fireworks shows. They discourage overnight there at other times.

  • We were riding our RZR out there about a week ago. About a mile south of Sara Park on the east side of 95, there were several RV's with ATV's out there. It looked to me like they were spending the night since there were several fire pits and sun canopies set up.

The "aerial" fireworks should be easily visible from there. Not sure about the ground display.
  • I was just through there and sorry to say I cannot recall if anyone was in the area. I boondocked north of town, there are many places up there, but that south part just escapes me.

google maps took a minute, but rendered an aerial photo of many RVs there. Looks like it may have been taken in 2013.
