Lake Tahoe campgrounds

Hello Folks,

My husband and I are planning a visit to the Lake Tahoe area in mid August. We have a 45' motor home and we are looking for a full hook-up (50 amp preferably) RV campground. We are looking for all suggestions.

Thank you.

Leslie
  • Zephyr Cove would be my choice also but it might be already booked up for Aug.
  • If you are willing to drive a few miles Carson City has a couple RV parks (one associated with a casino), and Truckee has a couple RV parks. Expect to pay Lake Tahoe prices at Tahoe for RV camping and you might find just a few miles away the cost is around half.
  • Two recommendations:

    Zephyr Cove in Nevada...Zephyr Cove
Tahoe Valley in South Lake Tahoe...Tahoe Valley

Tahoe Valley is an RPI park if you have that membership.

Be sure to take the ski lift to the top for awesome views. Stop at a Subway or similar and pack a lunch. You can get off the skylift halfway up and have lunch then continue up to the top. Lots of hiking trails as they use the ski runs during the summer......Dennis
  • I think prices at Tahoe Valley might be a tad lower than the Cove. We have Tahoe Valley as part of our Thousand Trail's membership...we joined TT their many years ago so it's our CG of choice(no nightly cost) when in Lake Tahoe.
  • We like Tahoe Valley too just enough off the beaten path but easy to get anywhere. Spent a week there last year.

Another vote for Tahoe Valley. Our home base is Reno and when we go up to the Lake Tahoe Valley is where we stay.
