Lake Texoma, Eisenhower State Park

I am trying to make a reservation at Eisenhower State Park for Labor Day weekend. There are sites available, however I am not able to find any photos of any of the campsites. The only sites that can be reserved online are the full hook-up sites which is fine, but I was curious as to what some of the campsites look like. Here in Missouri, on the state parks website, you can click on the map and see a photo of each campsite. We are meeting our kids there, who live in Houston, and was wanting to make sure that there is ample space for the slide-out, pitching a tent etc. I would appreciate any assistance from anyone who has stayed there before, particularly the full hookup, pull through sites.

  • Some of the COE parks will show pictures of sites. We have always stayed at Burns Run East with it being a smaller park and some sites with water views. DH and I went over to see Eisenhower SP that did not have water views with all the brush in the way. At BRE we have stayed in sites 9 and 12 that back up to the water. Thou it has been several years how low is the lake? You will like west also for the room between sites. It would be my next pick.

  • Thanks for all of the assistance, I ended up booking a site at Burns Run West. Looking forward to going, now if Labor Day weekend would just get here!

Sounds like Eisenhower SP is pretty nice. I did however check out Burns Run West and I was impressed. They have some nice sites available, and their campsites are a little cheaper, plus from what I can tell, they don't charge you a daily use fee on top of your campsite rental that I know of. So that one is looking pretty good too, so thanks for that tip.

Also at Burns Run West if anyone is 62 you can use the federal Senior Pass for 1/2 price camping! If you want 50 amps & full hookups you'll want a site in "C" section of Burns Run West. Also I'd book ASAP for holiday weekend. It's very popular & fills up fast.

  • We stopped there last August on the way home. Nice park. DW got chiggers bad just walking around our site, so make sure you've got big repellant.

Thanks wmoses, just what I was looking for. Can't tell how much room is outside your door, but looks like there should be room to put a tent between the rv and the road at least.

Easily. Eisenhower typically always has sites available, so a selection is possible and none of the sites are cramped. No RV parking lot here. Nice wildlife too and the Lake is excellent.
  • You might also check out Burns Run West just across the border in Oklahoma. That park and Burns Run East are COE parks where you can select a specific site. I have a full album of pictures for the West campground if you look in my Photolink.

Here you go. One of our favourite campgrounds in Texas! One pic was in June and the others in November.
  • I don't know of any TX state park that posts pictures of individual sites, or even groups of sites. General pictures at best.
And unfortunately, even though I live within 50 miles of Eisenhower I have not been there in years, and never camped there.
If you want to be guaranteed a large site, the best I can do is suggest West Burns Run park, just across Denison Dam on the Oklahoma side of Lake Texoma. The FHU pull thru sites are huge, long and 75' - 100' between sites. They have large concrete pads and patio area with grill, fire pit, and nice table. There would be plenty of room for tents, assuming they allow tents at the RV sites. We have stayed there several times, but off hand don't remember seeing a tent at an FHU RV site.
Not a large number of FHU sites and being a holiday weekend, may be hard to get.
