Lake Wateree State Park, SC

They recently added a new campground with full hookups. It is less than a 30 min drive for us and we have not been since the lates 90s. So we checked it out. They clear cut the trees in the new camp ground. Couldn't believe it. State Park clearing all the trees. Sites packed in pretty tight as well. The original campground is beautiful.
  • We are close to here too. Actually going in a few weeks. We will NOT be staying the the new section based off the photos that I have saw...
  • X2 and this happens all the time ,at my state park they built a new breakwall to protect the boats. now its to tight to get your boat to the ramp.

Architect had head where it ought not go. Must never have actually own an RV.
  • I’ve talked with the park staff and they are not happy with the new area either. Sites are tight, some really tight so only smaller unit will fit. I understand the clear cut, hard to lay pipe, build roads, and electrical having to deal with all them trees. Will take some time to work out some of the warts. Still one of my favorite parks but I’ll stay in the old part.
