I've found that KOAs are almost universally nice parks with friendly hosts. Downside is they tend to be a bit pricy. Only use them when there are no better alternatives.
We use Passport America a lot when we are on the road and there have been quite a few with zero amenities, but we do not want anything more than an electrical hook-up for overnight so they work for us. We also have found several really nice seasonal parks that have a few spaces for transients through PA. There are a couple that we will go out of our way for if we are running anywhere close to them.
Wherever we stop I always check it out on RV Park Reviews ahead of time.
