My experience, motorhoming it cross country 4 times...I-95 to I-10 to AZ...then either I-20 or I-40 back to the east coast...was that on our schedule of 6 hour days (300 miles) we could almost count on a KOA for our overnight stays. I'd say 85% of the time. Some KOAs are better than others, but we never had a "bad" one. Also...for some reason, at ANY campground, we never had any "mean, arrogant, nasty" owners. Some strange ones, yes. The human condition. The indie campgrounds we've used were nice...one, on I-81, the only one ON I-81 that was open in January was interesting. $25/nite, full hookup had quite a few "workers" and one tent with a 20 year old Dodge pickup with all 4 tires flat...but no problems. Guess we live in a dream world of sorts...or we're very lucky. With KOA....what's a 5 buck difference?
