LazyDays Tucson to become KOA

Our favorite CG in the Southwest is becoming a KOA. Lazydays has sold the park to KOA head office. I wonder how long before the rates go over $50.00. Occupancy will drop dramatically and then the whole thing will go down the tube. This is horrible. Like many others I hate KOA! Lazydays is not a family CG and will never survive if it becomes like all the other KOA's.

  • The only karacteristic of KOA I kan't stand their kronically kute practice of kreating new words that start with "K".
  • I think it is great news. We enjoyed the campground when it was Boudreys. We never visited the Lazy Days. However, if and when we do Tucson again it will be with the Grandkids, to show them where we went to College, etc. Since Tucson really does not have any "family" RV parks, or at least didn't the last time we traveled through, a KOA will most probably do very well. All the best luck to them. Tucson is a tourist market, and a "family" oriented short stay park couldn't hurt. Then again, maybe KOA wants to expand into the longer stay market? JMHO
  • In defense of KOA, I've stayed at quite a few and never had any problems with them. Yes they are a little more expensive than most, but my experience is because they generally have a lot more amenities than most. Now I don't use most of those amenities, but we often camp with my Bro-in-law who has kids and the kids use the playgrounds and pools and other things they have.
  • I quite agree. I have no particular feelings either way about KOA but we did very much like the Lazydays campground as it was. I can't imagine they will make it better.
  • Rest assured, not everyone hates families. It might do better than you think.
