LazyDays Tucson to become KOA

There is a reason why there are few( maybe none) family parks in Tucson. If there was a demand someone would have built it. But maybe we are all wrong. Perhaps KOA wants to turn this into a park like the high end California parks. I was told they are going to spend a lot of money. I would assume this will be more than a game room for kids, free suckers and a playground. This park is well laid out, has spacious sites, is close to the interstate and not far from shopping. There is a lack of close by restaurants but they do have a small bistro and have been serving a buffet breakfast on the enclosed patio. The security is excellent. Vamos a ver!

All camp grounds are a crapshoot .the state and corp. Park prices are going up.

When the time comes to sell your home, your business or anything else, most of us only care about one thing, the color of the money. Heck, if I was selling my parks and Adolph Hitler came out of the grave with the best offer, he would be running an RV Park and I would be on my way to the bank to cash the check.

But selling MHs can not be ignored and KOA may turn some away (obviously not all)

I always find it so strange that folks use a blanket statement that all KOA's are this or that. I have found each park has it's own personality and good points or bad points. I'm allowed to still vote with my feet, or wheels as it were. If I don't want to spend the asked rate, I can roll on down the road. If I feel my pocket can accept the rate, we stay. I know one couple that own a KOA and they work darn hard to make the camping experience as nice as possible for all the guests. Hearing the stories they will tell me about some if us campers makes ya wonder if some of us are ever satisfied or happy.

I use to only stop at KOA until their prices when above $7. I travel all over out west with their magazine. Have the gone up much since then.

I do not like KOA, but I avoid them most of the time and when I do not avoid them I am glad they are there. Not my first or second choice which I think is true of many with out kids who are considering buying a bigger and better DP. So why would Lazydays turn the CG over to a place that polarizes RV owners? I know lots love KOA, but obviously lots do not. Why tick off those who do not like KOA?

Like I said I avoid KOA, but glad they are there when I need them.

I see Camping World did move to a site that's just northeast of the old site. They're on Palo Verde Rd now.

My experience indicates that the KOA camper is a young family that camps around the school breaks and holidays , and often have young children that need entertainment .

Geezers , like me , often have completely equipped and self contained RV's , and do not need or want the amenities provided for families .

I enjoy the solitude and peaceful scenery at ACOE sites far more than the sounds of a playground .

As Camping World extends their " Good Sam " logo to individual parks , perhaps they will indicate the
type of park and define the prices .

Like I said earlier, other than being a little more expensive than most, I've always had good luck with KOA's. One thing I've noticed that adds to their exepnses I'm sure, is they always seem to have a lot of people on duty. Often we'll have somebody come out with a golf cart and lead us to our site and then offer to help you get into the site if you need help. I think they are trying to cater more to the newer RVers. I really don't need this service, but it is part of the added expense. I have stayed at the KOA near Santa Cruz several times and they are pretty expensive. I'm thinking $75 or so a night. There are many State parks in the area that are a whole lot cheaper than the KOA. All you have to do to stay at a State park is be awake at midnight 9 months to the day before you want to stay there, and get on the computer and at the stroke of midnight try to get your reservation in. I think I'll just pay the $75 myself. Other private RV parks in the Monterey and Santa Cruz area are just as expensive as the KOA parks in the area.
