Excellent idea. Take the opportunity to visit Huntington Beach State Park which is directly across the street (entrance a bit further back towards Murrels Inlet). Great state park, good beach, great sites, good walking trails.
If you want a fun night or afternoon (and your heart can take it) check out Medievel Times. Obviously staged fights but a good time, some think it’s pricey but deals can be had. If you go, take some plastic eating utensils as they serve the dinner in period manner.
Personally (and I’m from SC) the area south of MB is the place to stay, and only go to MB on a have to basis.
No matter what you do, have a good time.
