I know of one couple that comes down in their one ton dually, go to their storage unit and pull their 5'ver to the park. Spend part of the winter looking for a nice slide in camper to purchase. In the spring they pull their 5'ver to the storage unit, put the slide in onto the truck and then takes a nice vacation type trip back to Canada.
When they hit the boarder they smile at the customs agent, tell them that they spent the winter down south, and to have a nice day. Now according to him, they sell the slide in up there which pays for most of their winter in the US. This was when the dollar was strong so I don't know if it still work for them. YMMV
