We stayed at the RV park mentioned also. Nice folks and ice cream to boot. You will spend most of the day at the battlefield. You will do a little bit of walking also if you want to see the battlefield and cemetery. You will be tired go back and rest up at the campground. Well worth the money.

It's actually called 7th Ranch RV Park, south of the town of Garryowen and east of I-90 (exit the freeway at Garryowen, then go back south on the frontage road to the Reno Creek Road) The RV park is easy to find on Google Maps. Here is the link to their website: 7th Ranch

The RV park as mentioned is top notch and very close to the battlefield. You get an ice cream sandwich when you check in - or did last spring anyway.

There is a cluster of businesses at the highway exit just below the battlefield. There are lots of parking lots, a casino, gas station etc. There should be plenty of room to park your travel trailer for a day. Just keep it out of the way.

Highly recommend the self guided tour in you car without the trailer. There are many stops along the way and the cd will prompt you. Get out and experience all of it. A great national treasure for sure. The ranger talk before you head out is also very helpful.

There are a few drop off sites in the park itself as mentioned, but were full when we were there. Best bet is down below at the freeway exit.

I think it's called 7th Ranch RV Park. We stayed there a couple of years ago. Free ice cream at checkin!

Yes, the Ranger programs were top notch. We took our time and spent about 4-5 hours total.

7th Cavalry is a RV park a few miles south of the battlefield, if I recall correctly.

In July, it's going to be HOT there. Get there early regardless, and if you do, you can probably drop the trailer in the lot at the visitor's center.

It's worth spending almost a whole day there. Very interesting and scenic. There is also a national cemetery. Do your best to get in on one or more of the ranger presentations; they are great.
